"True independence and freedom can only exist in doing what's right."
I have always been fascinated by this saying by Chanakya - The man who united all states of India way before Britishers came to India and way before we fought for freedom of our Motherland and way before we achieved our Independence.
The greatest gift you can give your children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence indeed.
"What makes a nation, is the past, what justifies one nation against others is the past", says the noted historian Eric Hobsbawm.
Hence, when talking of a nation, it becomes very imperative that the past should also be talked about. And the past of India is as fascinating and interesting as it is momentous. The Song above has a great past. It was once thought to be kept as National Anthem of India before actual National Anthem status was given to "Jana Gana Mana" written by Rabindranath Tagore.
This song was featured in a tele-serial of Chanakya representing National intergrity and is sung by Chandragupta Maurya and others in Takshashila Vidyashram. Chankya being the architect of first Indian empire the above song fits into the situation where is trying to re-build the empire by uniting small states during those days. He indeed showed the world how a Nation can stand against almost any situation by uniting themselves.
Today after almost 2500 years of his existence we are completing 60 years of our Independence of modern India. But very few know that India which we are seeing today on world map was visioned way ahead by this man and named it as "BHARAT". Lets pay a tribute to the Man who is regarded as pioneer economist of the world this Independence Day.
Wish You all,
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

Dear Mr. Administrator,
I completely believe this song is ideal to become our national anthem, for it actually provokes one to think about his/her responsibility towards the nation (i'd rather say people, nationalism is just a camouflage used by most for asserting importance and superiority over other races in the world). Besides, i believe 'Jana Gana Mana' was written to welcome some British Nobleman. Can you please tell me who has composed the music for the song? It has a wonderful chorus and every time i listen to it, i feel good.
thanks for the comment. I dont have any official english translation of this song but i have tried somewhat myself to interpret the hindi meaning as below -
We worship & respect our nation, We worship & respect our nation,
by our body, by our mind, by our wealth, by body mind wealth and life we worship our nation
by our soul mouth deeds, by steadiness from our calm conscience,
with heads bent by our faith, we humbly request our nation
by our joyful childhood, by our emerging youth,
with the life of our adulthood, we pray to our nation
by studying our past, by turning pages of our history
by understanding our potential, we think about our nation
we remember numberous age-old glowing incidents
which came as obstacles in the path of service of my mother(land)
we anointed our foreheads for war with our mother(land)'s vermilion (sindoor)
we adorned ourselves with weapons of our mother(land)'s wo...
